Alternate Access Mode
Before entering certain low power states, register
states may need to be saved. This is more complicated
than it appears because certain legacy components
have read-only and write-only registers. In order to
save and restore these registers, the I/O Controller
includes an alternate access mode. Registers that are
normally write-only are provided with a read path via
alternate access mode as shown in Table 29. Registers
that are normally read-only are provided with a write
path via alternate access mode as shown in Table 30.
Accesses are performed using an index/data mecha-
nism through registers 6Bh and 6Ch of the LPC to PCI
bridge configuration space.
