Bus Interface Signals

has space equal to or more than the number of words
specified in the Bus Transfer Size field (BUS) in the
L64381 Configuration Register 1. This signal is valid on
the four cycles following the assertion of STROBE. The
state of this signal on the four cycles following the asser-
tion of STROBE indicates the Transmit FIFO space avail-
ability for Ports [3:0], respectively. If at the time of
assertion of STROBE, a bus transfer is occurring, then
BUF_AVAIL is not asserted for that particular port but it
does indicate correct status for the other ports.
BYTE_VALID[3:0]
Valid Bytes
These pins indicate which bytes are valid in the current
word. Byte 0 refers to DATA[7:0], Byte 1 refers to
DATA[15:8], Byte 2 refers to DATA[23:16], and Byte 3
refers to DATA[31:24]. The following table shows the valid
combinations of BYTE_VALID[3:0].

Note:
The bytes transferred with SOP or EOP can
have any of the above combinations except for
BYTE_VALID[3:0] = 1111

While writing a packet from the bus, the L64381 accepts
any of the seven valid BYTE_VALID[3:0] combinations:

However, for receiving PKT with SOP asserted, the
L64381 always asserts BYTE_VALID[3:0] as 0000

. For
PKT receiving with EOP asserted, the L64381 asserts
the BYTE_VALID[3:0] as one of four combinations:
