The sample design in Appendix A illustrates how to use four of the five possible pin drive sources all on
the same port. You will get an idea of the PSDabel statements that are required as well as the necessary
steps to be taken at run time. The sample design specifies Port A as follows:

At reset, all I/O port control registers are cleared. This means that initially, the port pins are
all MCU I/O mode inputs by default.
It is usually best not to assign pin numbers to signal names in the PSDabel file. This allows
the fitter utility to find the best solution. However, pin numbers were assigned in the sample
design file to force functions on certain pins for illustrative purposes.
The following sections were written in cookbook fashion to provide an easy reference for the user.
2.2.3.1 MCU I/O Mode
Run time control of pins.
Do this in the PSDabel file:
Enter pin declarations in the PSDabel file for signals 'Control', 'In_Out', and 'Status' to reserve the port
pins from being consumed by the fitter so they are available to the MCU at run time. See Appendix A,
lines 52, 53, and 54. No equations are needed.
Note: Two of the pins are being used for outputs, PA7 and PA6. No output equations in PSDabel are
allowed for the signals on pins PA7 and PA6 since the equations would require an OMC to drive the pin,
overriding MCU I/O mode. Optionally, input equations are allowed for the signals on pins PA7, PA6, and
PA5 for use as inputs to the AND array (pin feedback). This will not affect MCU I/O mode since the
signals will be routed through IMCs (see IMC section and Figure 2).
