I/P Conversion
When inputting interlace video signals such as TV video signals, I/P (Interlace/Progressive) conversion is
performed to match with the scan type (progressive scan) of the display.
The I/P conversion function generates pixel interpolations by the intra-field nonlinear interpolation that uses two
or three lines.
When I/P conversion of higher picture quality is required, an external I/P conversion device can be used. A video
noise reduction can also be added as an external device.
As the external device, OKI’s ML87V2103 or ML87V2105 is recommended. The ML87V2103 has motion
adaptive I/P conversion and noise reduction functions. The ML87V2105 is a noise reduction specialized device.
Refer to the data sheets and manuals of these devices for details.
Scaling (Image Size Expansion/Reduction)
The scaling function matches the number of pixels of input video data to the number of display pixels of the
display.
Different scaling functions are available for the vertical direction and the horizontal direction. For the vertical
direction, an expansion function that allows any expansion scaling factor up to 1.33 times and a reduction function
by line skipping are available. For the horizontal direction, an expansion function that allows specification of any
expansion scaling factor up to 1.33 times is available. The expansion function supports a uniform expansion mode
and a slanted expansion mode (panorama) that applies a smaller scaling factor to the center of the screen and a
larger scaling factor to the surrounding area.
Scaling picture quality can be adjusted by selecting a number of parameters in the picture element interpolation at
expansion.
