2C Bus Interface
Operation of each function block of the ML86V8208 is controlled by writing data in the control register. The
control register can be accessed via the I
2C bus interface.
As the I
2C bus slave address, either “74h” (0111_010x) or “76h” (0111_011x) can be selected using the external
pin.
In the I
2C bus communication, the one-byte data following the slave address is used as the register address (start
address).
For access to the control register, two types of addressing modes are available.
(1) Address increment mode
This is the default mode. When multiple data items are accessed consecutively, the register address is
incremented from the specified register start address. This mode is useful for accessing continuous register
address areas.
(2) Address cyclic mode
In this mode, data in 1 to 4 addresses can be accessed cyclically from the register first address. This mode is
useful for accessing the same address consecutively (number of cycles 1) or 2 to 4 addresses repeatedly such as
OSD font data.
