Integrated Audio/Communications System Device Family with Host-
Processed (HSF) V.90/K56flex Modem and PCI Bus Interface
The Conexant RipTide
LP Audio/Comm Device Family combines audio and
communications performance with built-in PCI Bus and peripheral interfaces into
two hardware devices and supporting PC software (see Figure 1 and Table 1). The
devices are the Audio Communications Controller and the Audio Modem Codec.
Audio system operation is supported by the Conexant WaveStream
64 (WS64) or
Mega WaveStream
software wavetable synthesis.
Conexant V.90/K56flex
modem operation is supported by host-processed (HSF or
SoftK56) MMX-based signal processing.
The Audio Communications Controller (ACC or Controller) integrates standard PCI
Bus, MPU-401, I
2S, analog/digital joystick, and Audio Modem Codec interfaces into
a single 128-pin TQFP (RACC011).
The Audio Modem Codec (AMC or Codec) combines two coder/decoder functions,
compliant with Intel Audio Codec ’97 2.1 extensions for combo audio modem codec
(AMC’97), into a 64-pin TQFP which supports one telephone line (RAMC021).
