Communication
The RipTide system can simultaneously support one or two Rockwell V.90/K56flex 56 kbps modem solutions. Modem host
software performs processing of general modem control, command sets, fax EIA/TIA-578 Class 1 and T.31 Class 1.0, voice,
speakerphone, digital speakerphone over the internet, DSVD, error correction, data compression, and operating system
interface functions. These functions, along with dialing, call progress, and telephone line interface are supported and
controlled through the AT command set. Modem functions operate with PSTN telephone lines in the U.S. and world-wide.
For a 1-line modem, the modem signal processing can either be SoftK56 host MMX-based or optional Modem DSP-based.
Either the 64-pin PQFP Codec or the 80-pin PQFP Codec may be used.
For a 2-line modem, the modem signal processing must be SoftK56 host MMX-based for one line and Modem DSP-based for
the other line. The 80-pin PQFP Codec must be used in this case.
