7.1.1.21
Power Management CSR
This register is used to determine and change the current power state of the function. It is also used to control the power
management interrupts of the function. The register bits are defined as follows:

PME_Status. This bit is set when the function would normally assert PME#, independent of the state of the PME_En
bit. Writing a 1 to this bit will clear it and will cause the function to stop asserting PME# (if enabled). Writing a 0 has no
effect. If the function does not support PME# from D3cold, this bit defaults to a 0. If the function supports PME# from
D3cold, this bit is undefined at reset and must be explicitly cleared by the operating system.

Data_Scale. This field indicates the scaling to be used when interpreting the Data register contents.

R = readable, w = writeable, c = clearable by writing ‘1’, s =’ sticky’
The Power Management CSR defaults to 0100,0000,0000,0000 for the Audio and Joystick functions and to
X100,000X,0000,0000 for the Modem function. “X” indicates that the bit is defined to be sticky, and is therefore undefined at
power up.

Data
The read-only Data register is used to report state dependent operating data such as power consumed or heat dissipation.
When the host writes a selection to the Data_Select bits of the CSR, the function responds by placing appropriate information
into the Data_Scale CSR bits and into the Data register.

PCI Configuration Pre-Load Interface
As an alternative, the host computer may directly program non-default values via ‘via BIOS settings’, into the device
configuration space registers. This interface responds to PCI configuration cycles and operates as follows:
Host writes ‘key’ into Function 1 configuration space. The key value is 24’h4d454d and is written to bits 31:8 of the dword at
byte offset 54.
All EEPROM loadable configuration registers, in all three configuration spaces, are made directly writable by host
through PCI configuration write cycles.
All normally writable configuration registers are write protected.
Host writes new values to each register of interest.
Most pre-loadable registers are directly writable.
The ‘PME Polarity’ bit is accessed and set for selected polarity.
Host clears the key by writing 24’h000000 to bits 31:8 of the dword at byte offset 54 of Function 0 configuration space.
When clearing key, care must be taken to ensure that bits 7:0 of the dword at offset 54 are correctly written. A value of
8’h00 in these bits will produce an active-low, open drain PME. A value of 8’h01 will produce an active-high, constantly
driven PME.
