Pico Technology have a
FREE
library of science experiments
available on the web. The web site contains a number of
educational experiments suitable for use with oscilloscope and
data logging products. The experiments are listed in five main
categories:
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Electronics
General Science
You will be able to find lots of interesting and exciting experiments
ranging from monitoring the rate of reaction between two liquids
to measuring the speed of light.
Also on the web site are a number of suitable experiments for
the DrDAQ, and a list of ideas for experiments that you could
design yourself.
You will be able to find all these experiments at:
Pico Technology oscilloscopes are supplied with
PicoScope software which turns a PC into an
oscilloscope, spectrum analyser and a meter.
These oscilloscopes can also be used with
PicoLog software for high speed data
logging experiments.
PC based oscilloscopes offer many advantages over traditional
benchtop instruments, ease of use, low cost, small size and
portability to name a few.
Pico oscilloscopes use the PC’s you already own so give large
colour displays (the whole class can see) and the ability to save
and print waveforms. Data can easily be exported to other
Windows applications (e.g. Excel or Word) for further analysis
or for writing reports. All the required software is included with
the products, and free software upgrades are available from our
web site.

Data Logging in Education
The DrDAQ is a low cost data logger from Pico
Technology. It is supplied ready to use with all
software and cables. Because the DrDAQ is
supplied with a range of built in sensors for light,
sound and temperature this makes it ideal for a
large variety of classroom science experiments.

Library of Science Experiments
PC based oscilloscopes and data loggers are ideal for the classroom. They open up many
new learning opportunities in education, from looking at the waveforms of musical
instruments through to measuring the speed of light.

The Institute of Physics’ Advancing Physics course is
a new course for AS/A2 level that started in September
2000.
Pico oscilloscope and data logging products are ideal
for the course, in fact PicoScope is described in the
recommended apparatus list (SFT12) as:
“A software/hardware combination that transforms
your PC into a very effective storage oscilloscope.
Available in a range of configurations; increasing
speed being matched by increasing cost.”
Salters Horners new A/AS level physics course has
been accredited for use by schools and colleges
since September 2000.
Pico products are ideal for this course as well, and
many of the pilot schools have used our
oscilloscopes and data loggers.
DrDAQ is our recommended product for this course,
as it is supplied with both PicoScope and PicoLog.
The DrDAQ can be used as an oscilloscope,
