T TEST pin (TEST)
The MB89190/190A series is only used in the single-chip mode. Always set the mode pins (TEST) to
Vss. Select the internal ROM from where the mode data and the reset vector are read.
Do not change the setting of the TEST pins (TEST) even after terminating the reset operation.
T Mode fetch
When reset is canceled, the mode data and the reset vector are read from internal ROM.
Mode data (address: FFFDH)
Always set the single-chip mode (00H)in the mode data.
Reset vector (address: upper FFFEH/lower FFFFH)
Write the execution starting address in effect after termination of the reset operation. Execute the
instruction starting from that address.
T Oscillation stabilization wait reset state
When the power-on reset is ‘provided’, the reset operation for the power-on reset or for the external reset
in the stop mode starts after the oscillation stabilization wait time by the time-base timer has elapsed. If
the external reset input has not canceled at this point, it is canceled and then the reset operation is
started.
The external clock also uses the oscillation stabilization wait time, so external clock input is required at
reset. When the power-on reset is ‘not provided’, there is no oscillation stabilization wait reset state.
Consequently, hold the external reset pin (RST) at the L level to disable the CPU operation until the
original oscillation stabilizes.
T Effect of reset on RAM contents
For a product with the power-on reset ‘provided’, the external reset is captured in synchronization with the
internal clock, so write is terminated normally even when the external reset is input during write, but when
reset occurs during writing of 16-bit data, writing may only be performed to the upper byte and not to the
lower byte. For a product with the power-on reset ‘not provided’, the external reset is not synchronized
with the internal clock, causing an internal reset. RAM data may be changed before or after an internal
reset, so always initialize RAM before using it.
