10. Link Fault Propagation LED Display
Since the media converter is a
“
dummy
”
device, the link fault
propagation becomes very important. The devices at the
both ends need to know whether the link is OK or Non-OK
on the whole path.
Figure 10 shows the DM9331 to the DM9331 connection.
The whole path is separated into local device (LD), local
converter (LC), remote converter (RC) and remote device
(RD), and three segments of transmit and receive
connection. Table 10 lists the LED status of all devices. It
shows the current link status of all the devices when they are
at auto-negotiation modes.
