Before any data is transmitted on the I
2
C-bus, the device
which should respond is addressed first. The addressing is
always done with the first byte transmitted after the start
procedure.

The SAA2505H acts as slave receiver or a slave
transmitter. Therefore the clock signal (SCL) is only an
input signal. The data signal (SDA) is a bidirectional line.
The SAA2505H slave addresses are shown in Table 4.

The subaddress bit A0 corresponds to the hardware
address at pin 52 which allows the device to have
2 different addresses. This allows control of two DUET ICs
via the same I
2
C-bus.

RITE AND READ CYCLES
The I
2
C-bus configuration for a write cycle is shown in
Table 5. The write cycle is used to write the bytes to
memory and control registers.

Table 6. The read cycle is used to read bytes from memory
and control registers.
