I/O Ports
This chip has 4 I/O ports: one input-only ports(PI), 2
I/O ports (PA&PB) and one output-only ports(PO)
Input-only port : PI ports
PI port is a general-purpose input port carrying
internal pull-high resistors that can be individually
enabled by software. Each pad can be individually
enabled to generate a wakeup signal & interrupt
signal when a high-to-low transition occurs.
Bi-direction port : PA / PB ports
PA ports are general-purpose bi-directional I/O
pads having internal pull-high resistors that can be
individually enabled by software. The content of
the data direction registers determines each bi-
directional I/O pad to be either an input or an output.
Output-only port : PO ports
PO port is a general-purpose output ports.
Timers
There
are
eight
timers:
general-purpose
timer(GTL>H), speech timer(ST1~4), melody
timer(MT) , and clock timer(CT). The general-
purpose timers can be cascaded as one 16-bit
timer, two individual 8-bit timer or one 8-bit timer
with auto-reload function. The general-purpose
timers are used for general usage, e.g. keyboard
de-bouncing,
silence
control
during
speech
connection, elapse time counting…tc.. Usually, the
speech timer controls speech sampling rate, the
melody timer controls melody rhythm, and the
clock timer is for real time clock. Although speech
and melody timers are dedicated to control speech
sampling rate and melody rhythm, they can also be
used as general-purpose timers.
Interrupt
There are 17 interrupt sources that are divided to 6
groups and two priority levels. An enabled interrupt
with high priority can interrupt a low priority one; but
interrupts of the same priority can not interrupt
each other. All of the interrupt groups are shown as
follows:
I/O group(IOISR): PI ports (8 ports) high-to-low.
UART group(UARTISR): UART TXD, RXD,
shift error and over-run error.
Speech timer group(STISR): Four speech
timer.
RTC group(RTCISR): Clock timer and alarm.
G/M timer group(GMTISR): General purposed
timers and melody timer.
The RTC & G/M timer groups are low priority and others are high priority.
