Functional Description
The PSB 4851 provides two bidirectional channels from the analog domain to the digital
domain, an internal loopback and a sophisticated power management for line-powered
operation. The first section describes the signal paths and functional units of the PSB
4851 while the second section discusses the support of the line powered operation.
2.1
Signal Paths and Functional Units
The PSB 4851 supports three analog inputs, three analog outputs and two digital
channels (Table 2-1).
These signals can be routed in either
pass-through
or
loopback
mode (Fig. 2-1). In
loopback mode different loops are available for test purposes and line powered
operation. In loopback mode the digital part of the PSB 4851 can be completely shut
down if it is not needed. The loop on the analog side remains fully functional.
