HANDLING DEVICES
1. Preventing Latchup
Latchup may occur on CMOS ICs if voltage higher than V
CC
or lower than V
SS
is applied to the input and output
pins other than medium- and high voltage pins or if higher than the voltage is applied between V
CC
and V
SS
.
When latchup occurs, power supply current increases rapidly and might thermally damage elements. When
using, take great care not to exceed the absolute maximum ratings.
2. Treatment of Unused Pins
Leaving unused input pins open could cause malfunctions. They should be connected to a pull-up or pull-down
resistors.
3. External Reset Input
To reset the internal circuit by the Low-level input to the RST pin, the Low-level input to the RST pin must be
maintained for at least five machine cycles. Pay attention to it if the chip uses external clock input.

Apply equal potential to the V

pins.
5. Precautions when Using an External Clock
When an external clock is used, drive X0 pin.
6. Sequence for Applying A/D Converter Power Supply and Analog Inputs
Be sure to turn on the digital power supply (V

) before applying the A/D converter power supply (AV
CC
, AVRH,
and AVRL) and the analog inputs (AN0 to AN15).
In addition, when the power is turned off, turn off the A/D converter power supply (AV
CC
, AVRH, and AVRL) and
the analog inputs (AN0 to AN15) first, and then turn off the digital power supply (AV
CC
).
Whether applying or cutting off the power, be certain that AVRH does not exceed AV
CC
.
7. Program Mode
In the MB90P623, all of the bits (48 K
×
8 bits) are set to “1” when the IC is shipped from Fujitsu and after
erasure. To input data, program the IC by selectively setting the desired bits to “0”. Bits cannot be set to “1”
electrically.
