DESCRIPTION
The M54/74HC4543 is a high speed CMOS BCD-
TO-7 SEGMENT DECODER WITH LCD DRIVER
fabricated in silicon gate C
2
MOS technology. High
speedlatch and decode operation 120timesas fast
as standard CMOS 4511B while CMOS low power
consumption in maintained. This device consist of
BCD-TO-7 segment decoderwith a BCD inputlatch
and a 7-segment driver for a liquid crystal display
(LCD). Whenany illegal BCD input signal is applied
or inputBI isheld high,thedisplay isblanked. When
driving LCDs,a commonsquarewavesignalshould
be appliednotonlyto the PHinput of thisdevice but
alsotothe electricallycommonbackplane ofthedis-
play.Forothertypesof readouts, suchaslight-emit-
ting diode (LED), some additional drivers, such as
a transistor array isrequired. Allinputs areequipped
with protection circuits against static discharge and
transient excess voltage.
