Modulation method (FM, FSK)
The modulation method using the information signal is that of direct frequency modulation (FM) of the VCO.
Specifically, frequency modulation is carried out by adding the signal to the loop filter of the PLL. This is the same in
the case of analog signals and digital data. Consequently, the lower limit frequency in frequency modulation gets
limited by the loop band width of the PLL. That is, the lower limit frequency becomes lower as the loop bandwidth of
PLL becomes narrower. In the case of FSK by data, although it is necessary to make the lower limit frequency lower
than that in the case of FM using analog signals, it is possible to sufficiently lower the lower limit frequency by adding
a circuit that modulates the reference oscillator frequency.
