POWER DISSIPATION
There are three major contributors to power dissipation in the
motor driver: conduction losses, switching losses, and flyback
diode losses. Consider the following operating conditions:
VBUS = +270V
fPWM = 10kHz
duty cycle = 50% (ton = 50s; toff = 50s)
IO = 40A, Module Output Current
during ton, Ic = IO; during toff, If = IO
The power dissipation of the circuit shown in FIGURE 6 can now
be calculated using information from the data sheet as follows:
Transistor data
TJ MAX = 150 °C (TABLE 2)
θJC.IGBT = 0.55°C/W (TABLE 2)
