Thermal Considerations
General
ThePMB8000SeriesDC/DCregulatorsaredesigned
tooperateinavarietyofthermalenvironments,however
sufficientcoolingshouldbeprovidedtohelpensurereliable
operation.Heatisremovedbyconduction,convectionand
radiationtothesurroundingenvironment.Increasedairflow
enhancestheheattransferviaconvection.Propercooling
canbeverifiedbymeasuringthetemperature
atthereferencepoint(Tref).

Byusingthethermalresistancethemaximumallowed
ambienttemperaturecanbecalculated.
1. Thepowerlossiscalculatedbyusingtheformula
