PKG 2000/4000 I Series - EriPower
30-60 Watt DC/DC power modules
The PKG series of DC/DC power modules is a range
of low profile DC/DC converters for distributed
power architectures in 24 or 48/60 V dc (36-75 V dc)
systems. They provide up to 60 W in single and dual
output versions. Utilizing the standard EriPower
PKA/PKE pinout with an even smaller footprint, the
power density is close to 20 W/cu.in.
The PKG modules can be used as on-board
distributed power modules, or as building blocks for
dedicated power boards. Featuring an efficiency of
86% (5 V version), the modules can operate at full
power up to +35 °C ambient temperature (derated to
30 W at +65 °C ambient) in free convection cooling
without any extra heatsinks. At forced convection
cooling >1 m/s (200 lfm), the PKG units can deliver
full power without heatsinks up to +60 °C ambient.
By adding external heatsinking, the thermal
performance can be extended further. Maximum case
temperature is +100 °C. Thanks to its peak power

Low profile 11.0 mm (0.43")
capability, the PKG series is ideal for applications
where maximum power is only required during short
durations (e.g. at disc drives) but small format is
important. The PKG units are built on a ceramic
substrate with plated copper which offers good
thermal management, low voltage drop, and high
efficiency. Switching frequency is a constant
510 kHz, and EMI filters are included.
