DEVICE OPERATION
When the MK53761 is not actively dialing, it con-
sumes very little current. Row and Column inputs
assumeoppositestatesoff-hook.Thecircuitverifies
that a valid key has been entered by alternately
scanningthe Row and Columninputs. Iftheinputis
still valid following 32 ms of debounce, the digit is
storedinto memory, and dialing beginsafter a pre-
signal delay of approximately 40 ms (measured
from initial key closure). Output tone duration is
shown in Table1.
TheMK53761allowsmanualdialing of anindefinite
numberof digits,but ifmorethan18digitsaredialed
per number, the 53761 will ”wrap around”. That is,
the extra digits beyond 18 will be stored at the be-
ginningof the LND buffer,and thefirst 18 digitswill
no longer be available for redial. During autodial
fromLNDoranymemorylocation,keyinputsarenot
accepted, but they will suspend dialing until re-
leased.

Normal dialing is straightforward, all keyboard en-
tries will be storedin thebufferand signaled in suc-
cession.
LAST NUMBER DIALED
(LND)
Lastnumberdialingisaccomplishedbyenteringthe
LND key.
HOOKFLASH
Hookflashmaybeenteredintothedialedsequence
at any point by keying in the functionkey, FLASH.
Flash consists of a timed Break of 560 ms. The
FLASH function is stored in memory, but it will not
beredialedassuch.Whena FLASHkeyispressed,
no furtherkeyinputswill beaccepteduntilthehook-
flashfunction(560 ms break) has beendialed. The
keyinput following aFLASHwillbestoredasthein-
itial digit of a new number(overwriting the number
dialed prior to the FLASH) unless it is another
FLASH.ConsecutiveFLASHentriesafteranumber
is dialedwillbestoredsequentiallyintheLNDmem-
oryandasubsequentLNDentrywillcausetheredial
of that number with a delay, but not hookflash
breaks,at the end of theredialing sequence.When
redialingintone mode, MUTE OUTPUT will remain
activeduringthe flash delay period.
SOFTSWITCH
Whendialinginthepulsemode,asoftswitchfeature
will allow a changeto the tone mode wheneverthe
* key is depressed. Subsequent * key inputs will
causetheDTMF codefor an* tobedialed.Thesoft-
switch will only switch from pulseto tone. After re-
turningtoon-hookandbacktooff-hook,thepartwill
be inpulse mode. RedialbytheLNDkeywill repeat
the softswitch.
PROGRAMMING AND REPERTORY DIALING
Programming is independentof HKS (pin 17) and
MODE (pin 2).
To program, enter thefollowing :
PROG,Digit 1, Digit 2, ..., MEM, Location(1-9).
When programming, dialing in inhibited.
Todailanumberfromrepertorymemory(HKSmust
be low) enter the following :
MEM, Location(1-9).
To save the last numberdialed : PROG, MEM, Lo-
cation (1-9).
