TheLTC4266requiresboththeVDDandVEEsupplyrails
tobepresentfortheserialinterfacetofunction.
BusAddressing
TheLTC4266’sprimaryserialbusaddressis010xxxxb,with
thelowerfourbitssetbytheAD3-AD0pins;thisallowsup
to16LTC4266sonasinglebus.AllLTC4266salsorespond
totheaddress0110000b,allowingthehosttowritethe
samecommand(typicallyconfigurationcommands)to
multipleLTC4266sinasingletransaction.IftheLTC4266
isassertingtheINTpin,itwillalsorespondtothealert
responseaddress(0001100b)pertheSMBusspec.
InterruptsandSMBAlert
MostLTC4266porteventscanbeconfiguredtotrigger
aninterrupt,assertingtheINTpinandalertingthehost
totheevent.Thisremovestheneedforthehosttopoll
theLTC4266,minimizingserialbustrafficandconserving
hostCPUcycles.MultipleLTC4266scanshareacommon
INTline,withthehostusingtheSMBAlertprotocol(ARA)
todeterminewhichLTC4266causedaninterrupt.

TheLTC4266requirestwosupplyvoltagestooperate.VDD
requires3.3V(nominally)relativetoDGND.VEErequiresa
negativevoltageofbetween–44Vand–57VforType1PSEs,
or–50Vto–57VforType2PSEs,relativetoAGND.The
relationshipbetweenthetwogroundsisnotfixed;AGND
canbereferencedtoanylevelfromVDDtoDGND,although
itshouldtypicallybetiedtoeitherVDDorDGND.
VDDprovidespowerformostoftheinternalLTC4266cir-
cuitry,anddrawsamaximumof3mA.Aceramicdecoupling
capofatleast0.1μFshouldbeplacedfromVDDtoDGND,
ascloseaspracticaltoeachLTC4266chip.
