Functional Overview
This section provides a functional overview of the L64222. Figure 2
shows a block diagram of the L64222 main functional units.
Video Decoder
The L64222 complies with MPEG-2 Main Prole at Main Level standards
(ISO 13818-2). It operates optimally at image sizes up to 720 x 480
pixels, with a frame rate of 30 fps for NTSC, or 720 x 576 at 25 fps for
PAL. The L64222 can also decode MPEG-1 sequences. The coded data
channel can have a sustained bit rate of up to 20 Mbits/s. The L64222
also supports images with resolution lower than 720 x 480 pixels (see
Video Postprocessing).
