HV9605: High Voltage PWM Controller for ISDN/Other Markets
Supertex is pleased to announce the introduction of a new High Voltage Current Mode PWM Controller IC for power supplies
used in ISDN and several other kinds of equipment.
Description:
The HV9605 is a single-output, current mode, pulse width modulator IC designed to meet the requirements of ETR-080 for
ISDN applications. Available in a 14 pin, plastic DIP (HV9605P) or narrow body SOIC (HV9605NG), it provides all the
necessary functions to implement a single-switch PWM with a minimum of external parts. The HV9605 requires less than
one tenth of the operating power of conventional bipolar PWM ICs. The dynamic range for regulation is also approximately
eight times that of similar bipolar parts.

Operation
The IC operates directly from any DC input voltage between 15 and 250 VDC. The START and STOP input thresholds can
be programmed within the input operating voltage by a resistor divider, provided +V
IN(START)
is greater than +V
IN(STOP).
The
clock frequency is set with a single external resistor. The functional block diagram in Figure 1 shows various sections of the
IC. Refer to the data sheet on our Web site for more information.
