Description
The R355 is a 00-pair high-density connector used on central office main distribut-
ing frames. It measures 0.95-in. H x 4.0-in. W and extends 7.38-in. outward from the
frame. It accepts industry standard 5-pin protector modules.
Connectors can be factory stubbed with 22 or 24-gauge cable in 0-ft. increments, start-
ing at 20 feet. The stub is complete with a moisture dam and grounding harness. The
connector has a 6AWG grounding system, which is available with or without isolated
ground and can be easily converted in the field.
The front-facing equipment field allows convenient wire termination. Front and rear fan-
ning strips facilitate orderly jumpering, and highly visible pair-count identification. Two
front administered 50-pair 303-type test fields make testing easy.
The R355 meets or exceeds the specifications set forth in Telcordia TA-EOP-00064 and
GTE GTS 8339 documents.
The R355 is RDUP (formerly RUS) accepted for additions to offices where R355s have pre-
viously been purchased using RDUP (formerly RUS) funds.
Application
The R355 protects personnel and equipment
from abnormal voltages and currents on
incoming cable pairs. It mounts on central
office conventional distribution frames with
8-in. centers.
Plug-in modules ordered separately.

Key Features
High density saves space; increases
number of protected cable pair per
frame vertical
Narrow block width allows large
inter-vertical working space
for fast, convenient jumper
administration
Front ground test point option
saves labor and increases
reliability; provides a convenient
place to attach an alligator clip
without reaching behind the
connector
Accepts industry standard
protector modules to permit a
wide module selection
Gold-plated protector module
sockets and test-field contacts
provide superior electrical contact;
eliminate noise problem
Standard 50-pair 303-type test
fields save costs; require no special
gear; are compatible with other
connectors for frame expansions
Integral field-stubbing bracket
saves costs; permits fast, easy field
stubbing; needs no temporary
mounting bracket
