C O NT R O L L E R
T he evaluation board can be operated in a stand-alone
mode or operated in conjunction with the EVALUA-
T ION-BOARD C ONT ROL L E R. T his E VAL UAT ION-
BOARD C ONT ROL L ER is available from Analog
Devices under the order entry "EVAL -CONT ROL
BRD2". When operated with this control board, all sup-
plies and control signals to operate the AD7898 are pro-
vided by the EVAL UAT ION-BOARD C ONT ROL L ER
when it is run under control of the AD7898 software
which is provided with the AD7898 evaluation board
package (mode 1 operation only). T his EVAL UAT ION-
BOARD CONT ROL L ER will also operate with all Ana-
log Devices evaluation boards which end with the letters
CB in their title.
T he 96-way connector on the EVAL -AD7898CB plugs
directly into the 96-way connector on the EVALUA-
T ION-BOARD C ONT ROL L ER. No power supplies are
required in the system. T he EVAL UAT ION-BOARD
CONT ROL L ER generates all the required supplies for
itself and the EVAL -AD7898C B. T he EVAL UAT ION-
BOARD CONT ROLLER is powered from a 12V ac
transformer. T his is a standard 12V ac transformer ca-
pable of supplying 1A current and is available as an acces-
sory from Analog Devices under the following part
numbers:

For use in the U.S. or Japan
E V AL -220V AC -UK :
For use in the U.K .
E V AL -220V AC -E U:
For use in Europe
T hese transformers are also available for other suppliers
including Digikey (U.S.) and C ampbell C ollins (U.K .).
C onnection between the EVAL UAT ION-BOARD C ON-
T ROLLER and the serial port of a PC is via a standard
RS-232 cable which is provided as part the EVALUA-
T ION-BOARD C ONT ROL L ER package. Please refer to
the manual which accompanies the EVAL UAT ION-
BOARD CONT ROL ER for more details on the EVAL U-
AT ION-BOARD C ONT ROL L E R package.
