TheAWU6602poweramplifiermoduleisbasedon
ANADIGICS proprietary HELP3 technology. The
PAisdesignedtooperateupto17dBminthelow
powermode,thuseliminatingtheneedforthreegain
state, while still maintaining low quiescent current
andhighefficiencyinlowandmediumpowerlevels.
ThePAcanstillbeoperatedas3gainstatedevice
if the customer chooses to. The directional “daisy
chainable”couplerisintegratedwithinthePAmodule,
thereforethereisnoneedforexternalcouplers.
TheAWU6602 has an integrated voltage regulator,
which eliminates the need for an external constant
voltage source. The PA is turn on/off is controlled
by VEN pin.A single VMODE control logic (VMODE1) is
neededtooperatethisdevice.
The DG09 power distribution (figure 15) highlights
theneedtoimprovethecurrentconsumptioninlow
andmediumpowerlevel.TheAWU6602isdesigned
tooperateupto17dBminthelowpowermodewith
verylowquiescentcurrent.Currentconsumptionfor
AWU6602isalsoplottedinthefigure5.
AWU6602 requires only two calibration sweeps for
systemcalibration,thussavingcalibrationtime.
Figure16showsoneapplicationexampleonmobile
board.C1andC2areRFbypasscapsandshould
be placed nearby pin 1 and pin 10. Bypass caps
C9andC5maynotbeneeded.Alsoa“T”matching
topology is recommended at PA RFIN and RFOUT
portstoprovidematchingbetweeninputTXFilterand
Duplexer/Isolator.
