Stresses above those listed under “Absolute Maximum Ratings” may cause
permanent damage to the device. T his is a stress rating only; the functional
operation of the device at these or any other conditions above those indicated in the
operational sections of this specification is not implied. Exposure to absolute
maximum rating conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.
C AUT ION
ESD (electrostatic discharge) sensitive device. Electrostatic charges as high as 4000 V readily
accumulate on the human body and test equipment and can discharge without detection.
Although the ADX L 05 features proprietary ESD protection circuitry, permanent damage may
occur on devices subjected to high energy electrostatic discharges. T herefore, proper ESD
precautions are recommended to avoid performance degradation or loss of functionality.
WARNING!
ESD SENSITIVE DEVICE
Drops onto hard surfaces can cause shocks of greater than 1000
g
and exceed the absolute maximum rating of the device. Care
should be exercised in handling to avoid damage.

C2
T he power supply input pin.
Connection for an external bypass capacitor (nominally 0.022
μ
F)
used to prevent oscillator switching noise from interfering with
other ADX L05 circuitry. Please see the section on component
selection.
Connections for the demodulator capacitor, nominally 0.022
μ
F.
See the section on component selection for application information.
T he power supply common (or “ground”) connection.
Output of the internal 3.4 V voltage reference.
T he digital self-test input. It is both CMOS and T T L compatible.
T he ADX L05 preamplifier output providing an output voltage of
200 mV per
g
of acceleration.
Output of the buffer amplifier.
T he inverting input of the uncommitted buffer amplifier.

NOTES:
AXIS OF SENSITIVITY IS ALONG A LINE
BETWEEN PIN 5 AND THE TAB.
THE CASE OF THE METAL CAN
PACKAGE IS CONNECTED TO PIN 5
(COMMON).
ARROW INDICATES DIRECTION OF
POSITIVE ACCELERATION ALONG AXIS
OF SENSITIVITY.
